RCMP investigate false school shooting report in Balcarres

Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP were called to the town of Balcarres after a complaint of a possible school shooting around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

After searching all schools in the community, police confirmed no shooting had occurred.

980 CJME has learned through a voicemail sent out to students’ parents, the Balcarres Community School was on lockdown while Mounties investigated the scene. The safety protocol has since been lifted.

RCMP officers were still on scene as of 2:50 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.

Balcarres is located around 92 kilometres northeast of Regina.
