2016 Pirelli calendar marks new era

Photographer Annie Leibovitz is putting a different take on the 2016 edition of the famous Pirelli calendar.

The calendar from the Italian tire company dates back to 1964 and has traditionally featured images of the world’s top models, mostly nude, captured by renowned photographers.

For her take on the trade calendar, Leibovitz chose to feature professional women.

Patti Smith is one of the women featured, but instead of being scantily clad, she’s wearing a long-sleeved shirt, a black vest and pants. Yoko Ono, film mogul Kathleen Kennedy, comedian Amy Schumer, tennis star Serena Williams and director Ava DuVernay are among the other women in the calendar.

The calendar has a limited availability, given as a corporate gift to a restricted number of Pirelli customers and celebrities.
