While we enter the final weeks of the Christmas shopping season, some Regina businesses aren’t seeing the usual rush the holiday brings.
“It’s a little slower, a little quieter right now,” said Tanya Brewster-Mann, regional marketing manager for the Southland Mall.
“I don’t think people are quite in that Christmas rush yet due to the weather. It’s so beautiful out there it feels more like spring than Christmas.”
Brewster-Mann said the mall usually starts getting a lot busier at the beginning of December, but that isn’t being seen this year. She admits, however, the real rush comes closer to Christmas.
“The real big rush we see is the last two weeks towards Christmas where people are frantic.”
The quieter environment is a benefit to shoppers, Brewster-Mann pointed out, with less time needed to spent waiting in lines.
For those who do end up waiting until the final few weeks before Christmas to shop, extended mall hours will help make sure everything gets checked off the list.
