Man connected to Sask. robberies arrested after police chase

RCMP have a man and woman in custody in connection with some robberies in southern Saskatchewan Wednesday.

RCMP received a call around 3:45 p.m. about a robbery at a jewelry store in Moosomin. According to reports, the man was in the process of being shown some high-end watches when he pushed the owner away and fled. The owner chased after him and was able to get a plate number and vehicle description.

Then around 5:10 p.m., RCMP received another call of a robbery — this time at a pharmacy in Indian Head. Reports suggest the man entered the business and demanded some prescription medication from a pharmacist. The man said he had a gun on him but never actually revealed the weapon. He was able to get away with an unknown amount of medication and fled in a vehicle.

Indian Head and Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP, along with File Hills Police Service, conducted patrols in the area. Information was collected from the Ontario Provincial Police providing details about the man associated with the vehicle. He was wanted on a number of warrants in Ontario.

Outlook RCMP were able to locate the suspect vehicle and stop it just outside of Outlook Wednesday. The woman behind the wheel was arrested but the man got away in the vehicle. After a chase with police, the suspect turned down a road with a dead end and fled on foot.

Around 9:10 p.m., RCMP received a call about a stolen 2004 Chrysler Intrepid, and shortly after that, there was another complaint about a gas-and-dash in Rosetown.

Biggar RCMP deployed a spike belt on highway 4 south of Biggar, which stopped the vehicle, and the suspect was arrested.

Steven Scott, 37, from Barrie, Ontario is facing a number of charges including robbery and robbery with a firearm.

He makes his first court appearance in North Battleford Friday.
