It’s beginning to look a lot like winter outside, but the recent snowfall hasn’t been much help for the Mission Ridge Winter Park.
Don Williams is the general manager and part owner of the park. He said they’ve had to make most of the snow on the runs.
“We’ve been ‘kinda making snow even in the marginal temperatures we’ve been getting by making snow at night, shutting down during the day, and then starting up again at night.”
But that doesn’t mean the snow hasn’t done any good.
“A little bit of snow always helps, particularly in Regina, because it sort of gets people in the mood for skiing, thinking it’s winter again. I mean, this weather we’ve been getting this last while, people haven’t even been thinking about winter,” explained Williams.
Five of the 14 runs opened on Dec. 12. Williams is hoping for some cold weather this week so they can finish off the last nine runs in time to open them up on the coming Saturday.
