A man with a machete allegedly tried to steal money by prying open a cash register Wednesday night.
Police were called to a restaurant in the 300 block of Idylwyld Drive North in Saskatoon at 9:20 p.m. The man had run away when the staff confronted him.
It was about 10 minutes later when police heard that a man with a mask and a machete stole cash and cigarettes from a nearby gas station.
Police believe the events could be connected.
The male suspect is described as wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans, black and grey shoes, grey gloves, and a white shirt.
