It appears the force is still awake and very strong in Regina with Kramer Imax Theatre still selling out shows for the new Star Wars movie.
Ryan Holota, director of visitor services at the Saskatchewan Science Centre, says the theatre has been very busy in since Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened in time for the Christmas rush.
“Kids are out of school and a lot of adults are off work and so I think every show has been sold out through that time period,” Holota said.
The most-anticipated movie of the year broke a record this week by being the fastest to hit $1 billion in sales at the box office.
Kramer Imax is the only Imax theatre in Canada to be showing the movie on Imax film.
Holota says it has been great for business at the small theatre. The science centre is often very busy through the holiday season, but he says this year has been even better.
“Obviously with that many sold-out shows and feature-length movies as well, that’s been really good, so it has been nice to see right at the end of the year,” Holota said.
For fans that are waiting for the hype to die down, Holota expects to see that happen in the first week of the new year when people go back to work and school.
