Toonie-sized hail could be on the way to parts of southwest Saskatchewan according to Environment Canada.
Environment Canada has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for Leader, Gull Lake, Swift Current and Hebert areas. Warnings are issued when the thunderstorm is imminent or already occurring.
Severe thunderstorm watches are also in place for Lloydminster, The Battlefords and Shaunavon areas.
The thunderstorm is capable of producing very strong wind gusts, heavy rain and hail that could be as large as a toonie.
Environment Canada is advising people to take cover if threatening weather approaches and that severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
