Police said the person reported being contacted by phone and email about their timeshare. The victim sent the money because they thought they were dealing with a legitimate rental company, but that was not the case.
Police are reminding people to never share personal information or send money after receiving strange phone calls.
People are advised to report any suspicious phone call or email and to try to contact the organization or company the caller claims to be working for directly.
