Police have arrested a 28-year-old man who allegedly forced a young person to withdraw money from an ATM and drive him out of Yorkton Saturday night.
Mounties said David Shepherd approached a teenager outside a restaurant on Broadway Avenue in Yorkton, and forced them to drive him away from the location.
According to police, the victim was then threatened and coerced to withdraw cash from a personal back account, before driving the accused southbound out of the city.
While stopped in Whitewood, the victim was able to escape. Shepherd then fled the area in the victim’s vehicle.
After issuing a warrant for Shepherd’s arrest, and warning the public not to approach him, RCMP said he had been arrested Monday morning.
Shepherd is charged with robbery, theft, uttering threats, forcible confinement and a provincial traffic safety act offence.
He will appear in court in Yorkton on Tuesday.
