A 52-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly hitting a police cruiser during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.
Around 12:45 a.m., police tried pulling the vehicle over in the 400 block of Lorne Street.
Police say the driver briefly stopped, but when officers got out of their vehicle to speak to him, the vehicle sped off — striking the empty police cruiser along the way.
Police say the driver drove a short distance before he got out of his vehicle and tried to run.
After a brief chase, police arrested the suspect near Ninth Avenue North and Lorne Street.
Following a search of both the suspect and the vehicle he was driving, police discovered “a large amount” of cocaine, crystal meth and marijuana.
Jean St. Germain is now facing hit and run charges, along with others involving evading police and drug trafficking.
St. Germain will appear in court on Monday.
