One local Regina business is celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday.
The Vintage Tea Rooms on Broad Street was serving up a cake made from a recipe by Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.
The story goes that that the cake, made with dates and pecans, was made by the Queen and only sold for charity.
Owner Karen Howden says it has been a popular item on the menu.
“It has pecans in it and cinnamon and other spice and burnt sugar icing on top,” she explained. “We serve it with real whipped cream and homemade caramel sauce.”
The Queen’s birthday will also be incorporated into the Mother’s Day tea May 7.
