The last 24 hours of Country Thunder Saskatchewan proved interesting for RCMP.
In total, police received 34 calls for service over the past day – including a report of two people catching and killing a bird in the campground. A man and a teenage boy, no ages were given, were charged under the Wildlife Regulation Act.
This comes after an incident involving a kitten reported to have been drenched with alcohol and lit on fire at last year’s Craven. Charges against the accused – also a man and a teen – were eventually stayed due to lack of evidence.
RCMP also received six calls regarding assault. Five resulted in no charges while one, what police call domestic in nature, resulted in charges. Police also listed one roadside suspension.
According to police, there was a total of 135 calls for service at this year’s event, compared to 114 calls for service at Craven in 2016.
Police also attended to an unresponsive man around 12:40 a.m. Monday morning. The man was eventually taken to hospital via STARS Air Ambulance.
