980 CJME’s Santas Anonymous ensures no family is without a toy at Christmas, and that now includes the Regina family who lost everything in a house fire Tuesday.
Murray Shepherd is hospitalised and being treated for second-degree burns and smoke inhalation. Tristen Buffalo and their five children are now living in a hotel as a result of the blaze.
Thanks to the generosity of listeners who donated to the annual Christmas program, several new toys were wrapped and delivered to the family Thursday.
The program wasn’t the only one to step up and do what it could to help a family in need.
The Southland Mall also showed its generosity by gifting the family $1,000 to replace the items lost in the fire.
As well, Rosemont Community School has been collecting donations in an effort to help the family out. Two of the five children attend that school.
Rosemont Community School is accepting donations Thursday until 7:30 p.m. and again from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
The fire remains under investigation and a cause is not yet known.
