He isn’t known for his emotion, but what will likely be the first of many goodbyes began Wednesday for Regina police Chief Troy Hagen.
The chief announced his retirement in April with his last day expected in June.
On Wednesday morning, he attended the monthly meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners, the governance body that oversees Regina Police Service (RPS).
While there was no official goodbye program, there were many public well wishes from those on the board including Regina Mayor Michael Fougere, calling it “the end of an era”.
In return, Hagen maintains he has enjoyed working with the board.
“They keep asking hard question – as they should, they are our governance board. I have always respected that. Their level of engagement has been top-notch.”
The search for a new police chief for Regina is already underway.
