A snowfall warning for Saskatoon continued into Saturday, with as much as eight centimetres of snow falling, according to an Environment Canada meteorologist.
Another five to 10 centimetres of snow is expected Saturday night.
While Saskatoon will have seen the worst of it by then, as much as four centimetres of snow could fall in Regina on Sunday.
“Regina’s on the edge of two systems. We’ve got that system coming through the northern edge and that system coming through the south of Saskatchewan so that they’ll just continue to get caught in the middle of these systems over the weekend and into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,” said Sara Hoffman.
Hoffman said drivers could see reduced visibility.
“Make sure to maintain a safe following distance between the vehicle in front of you,” she said.
“Reduce speed, make sure your lights are on and before you head out on the highways, anytime in the winter time, make sure you have a winter survival kit in your car.”
Regina is also headed for a deep freeze, with overnight lows between minus -25 C on Saturday night and as cold as minus -31 C on Tuesday night as conditions clear up.
“That clearing means you don’t have that cloud cover to trap that radiant heat at night,” Hoffman said.
