A police service dog helped apprehend a suspect who tried to run when officers responded to a report of suspicious behaviour.
Police said a call came in of a man checking car doors in the parking lot of the shopping complex on Clarence Avenue South and South Circle Drive Monday night.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., a K9 unit arrived and found the man, who ran from the officer and into a store.
The suspect was seen leaving the store a little while later and decided to run when he saw police again.
This time the man was pursued around the busy parking lot and eventually apprehended by a police dog.
Officers said the man was found to be unlawfully at large from Correctional Service of Canada, and will also face new charges.
