The faculty at the University of Regina has voted in favour of a new collective bargaining agreement.
The agreement would put an end to a lengthy bargaining process which nearly saw the faculty go on strike near the end of March.
The new four-year agreement includes a new rank for sessionals who are teaching the equivalent of full-time work, changes to the instructor/faculty ratio that will create a way for those hired to become assistant professors, and gains in compensation.
According to the University of Regina Faculty Association, the strike mandate and support from others helped the bargaining team push the university to make serious concessions.
The agreement will now go to the university’s board of governors.
