One dead after crash on Highway 16

One person died Thursday evening in a two-vehicle crash that closed Highway 16 near Springside.

In an emailed media release, the Mounties said the crash involving a westbound semi and an eastbound SUV happened at about 8 p.m.

The driver of the SUV was killed. The driver of the semi was transported to hospital in Yorkton for treatment of minor injuries.

The crash closed the Yellowhead Highway eight kilometres northwest of Springside, or 32 kilometres northwest of Yorkton. The road reopened Friday at approximately 6:30 a.m.
