SAO PAOLO, Brazil — Goals by teenager Deanne Rose and superstar Christine Sinclair lifted Canada onto the medal podium Friday, earning a bronze for the second straight Olympics in a 2-1 win over Brazil.
Rose scored in the 25th minute and Sinclair followed that up in the 52nd.
Beatriz replied for Brazil in the 79th minute.
Sinclair’s goal was the 165th of her international career as she earned her 250th cap.
Her performance typified the Canadian effort. She was all over the field, looking to set up attacks or blunt Brazilian attacks.
Rose assisted on Sinclair’s goal, setting up the precision strike.
