The City of Saskatoon says it has now recovered $380,000 in funds it lost earlier this month to a fraud scheme.
Most of the money the city lost is still frozen by court order.
On Aug. 12, the city discovered that a $1.04-million payment to a construction company was redirected to an account set up by a fraudster.
“Recovery of these funds continues to be a top priority and we’re encouraged to have over a third of the stolen money returned this early in the process,” said Clae Hack, the city’s interim chief financial officer.
The city is still working with police and banks to recover the rest of the money.
