Mayoral candidate Kelly Moore has announced her campaign platform.
She wants more financial responsibility in Saskatoon if she’s elected.
“I’m running because all I’ve heard at the doors is people concerned about our city’s record debt,” she said.
“Voters are also concerned about the mismanagement of funds that have been spent to address infrastructure deficits.”
Saskatoon’s debt is expected to peak at $495 million in 2021, lower than the city’s debt limit of $558 million.
Moore said she’ll fix the problem by being open and transparent about the books.
“We need to see the information to see where the dollars have gone.”
Moore said voters are tired of tax increases year after year.
“They need to get value for their money.”
Her vision focuses on growing the community.
“I want a library in a civic square that’s accessible to all people,” she said. “A place where people can grow, learn and have a community.”
Moore said a downtown arena may be part of the development, but is 10 years away.
