Last day of summer has Saskatoon residents split on change of seasons

It was a 50-50 split on how Saskatoon residents reacted to the season changing to fall on the last day of summer Wednesday afternoon.

“Fall is sometimes depressing,” Eldon Sadler said, who’s from Victoria, B.C. “I’m used to cutting the lawn in January, not shoveling snow.”

Temperatures are starting to dip to the lower digits and it’s starting to get dark around 7:30 p.m.

“It’s OK, the days just roll into each other,” Curtis Simonson said. “I like spring because I don’t like hot weather and not a huge fan of cold weather either.”

Lots of people taking advantage of the sunny day with walks along the river front.

“I like scarves, boots and pumpkin spice,” Jessica Pettit said. “I just love the temperature, it’s nice at night and I don’t have to crank my heat up just yet.”

Laurel Beaumont agrees.

“It’s quite relaxing actually,” she said.

For those who are actually looking forward to winter, it is only 90 days away.

“I love winter,” Lorraine Schmidt said. “I like to snowmobile and go to my cabin.”
