Extreme cold hits parts of Sask.

Cold, arctic air continues to blanket Saskatchewan, prompting Environment Canada to issue extreme cold warnings for certain areas of the province.

Warnings for the southern portion of the province have been cancelled. Warnings for the entire northern third of the province — including Uranium City, Fond-du-Lac, Key Lake, Southend, La Loche and their surrounding areas — remain in place.

“Wind chill values will moderate daily, then once again fall into the minus 45 to 50 range overnight for the next several days,” the warning read.

Regina’s forecast high for Wednesday is -18 C during the day; its forecast night-time low is -21. Saskatoon is expected to reach a high of -20 on Wednesday; its night time low is expected to be -23.
