Regina police said they’re taking a backseat in the investigation into a deadly house fire on New Year’s Eve.
Around 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 31, officers were called to help fire crews and paramedics at the blaze in the 1500 block of Cameron Street.
After firefighters doused the flames, a man was found dead inside the home.
Police have not released the man’s name.
As the investigation continues into his death, the Regina Police Service said in a media release Thursday that it will not be the lead agency but will remain in a supporting role.
The death investigation will be led by the Saskatchewan Coroners’ Service and Regina Fire and Protective Services.
