According to Saskatchewan Agriculture’s weekly crop report, 80 per cent of the 2016 crop has been combined and 14 per cent is swathed or ready to straight cut.
The five-year average for this time is 86 per cent combined.
Harvest is furthest along in the southeast, where producers have 88 per cent of their crop in the bin. Around the rest of the province, harvest is 81 per cent finished in the southwest, 77 per cent in the east-central region, 73 per cent in the west-central and 78 percent in both the northwestern and northeastern regions.
Ninety-five per cent of lentils, 74 per cent of durum, 79 per cent of spring wheat, 77 percent of canola and 43 per cent of flax has been combined.
The crop report indicates rain was fairly general throughout the province. The west-central and northwestern regions received less rain than the others. The largest amount of rain in the provinces was reported in the Hazenmore area, which received 91 mm.
At the time the report was being written, snow was falling in most areas of the province.
Strong winds and flooding caused the majority of the crop damage.
