The excitement is high for Super Bowl Sunday between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
In all the excitement, people in North America are playing it fast and loose with their money.
Sunday is the most popular betting day in North American sports. An estimated 6.8 billion dollars is expected to be wagered at the event.
But the bets go way beyond the actual game being played. Prop bets are extremely popular and let you bet on virtually anything.
A staple every year is to bet on the national anthem. This year the anthem will be sung by Demi Lovato. Bets include how long her rendition takes, if the “brave” at the end of the song will be over or under five seconds, if a scoring drive takes less time than the anthem and who gets shown first while it’s being sung.
Some other interesting prop bets include how many times Donald Trump tweets, which company gets the first halftime commercial and if someone will run onto the field during the game.
Twitter user Scott Barrett took that last one and came up with a plan to get paid to attend the game.
How to get paid to go to Super Bowl LIV:
1) Bet $5K max on highlighted
2) Buy SB LIV ticket
3) Run onto the field
4) Collect $37,500
5) Reimburse self for ticket, pocket difference (legal fees not included) pic.twitter.com/RZeGKzynPf— Scott Barrett (@ScottBarrettDFB) January 27, 2020
The bets even can get downright bizarre. A couple potential bets include if any player ends the game with exactly 69 yards and how many women claim to have slept with 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo during Super Bowl week.
Even if you aren’t a big football fan, you can still get in on the action and find a bet that suits you.
