The Regina Pats continued their run of success against the rival Moose Jaw Warriors, and were on the right side of a 7-4 decision in WHL action at the Brandt Centre on Tuesday night.
The Pats have now won four of the six meetings between the two clubs this season, including wins in three straight games.
Pats goaltender Spencer Welke made his first WHL start, recording 20 saves in the win.
Forward Cole Carrier led the way for Regina with two goals and an assist in the win. Forward Carson Denomie also had three points in the clash with a goal and two assists.
The Pats and Warriors were locked in a close affair after one period with both teams at two goals apiece in front of 3,887 fans. Carrier and defenceman Ryker Evans scored for the home team while forward Martin Lang and defenceman Carson Sass chipped in for Moose Jaw.
The second period saw Regina forward Logan Nijhoff score to give the Pats the lead and the team wouldn’t look back after that.
Carrier, Denomie, forward Zack Smith and forward Carter Chorney scored in the final frame. The Warriors got third-period tallies from forwards Garrett Wright and Tate Popple.
The Pats (21-33-4-2) were eliminated from playoff contention following their 2-0 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Sunday. The Pats are next in action on Friday in Saskatoon against the Blades.
