A female inmate at the Pine Grove Correctional Centre passed away at Royal University Hospital on Wednesday night, according to a release from the Ministry of Corrections and Policing.
The release says she was declared dead at about 8 p.m.
The Prince Albert Police Service is investigating her death, and the ministry will be conducting an internal investigation. The death is not related to COVID-19.
Her death has also been referred to the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.
According to the release, next of kin have been notified.
