Environment Canada issued tornado watches in several northern Saskatchewan communities Thursday evening.
It includes the Meadow Lake, Pelican Narrows and Buffalo Narrows areas.
The watches mean severe thunderstorms moving through the area are capable of an isolated tornado, large hail and very strong wind, according to Environment Canada.
Tornado watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes but it is not guaranteed, the advisory said.
When severe weather approaches the weather office encourages people to take cover immediately.
