Crash closes Highway 5 near Wadena

A major collision along Highway 5 southeast of Wadena blocked traffic in both directions on Monday afternoon.

Photos from Kylemore near Wadena showed traffic backing up through the town.

STARS Air Ambulance said both its Saskatoon and Regina units were dispatched to the area for a scene call emergency.

The RCMP told 650 CKOM the highway could be able to reopen after the helicopters arrived.

It’s unclear how many vehicles were involved, or how many people may have been injured.

Wadena is located approximately 200 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon.
