The City of Regina and the Regina Police Service (RPS) are asking for the public’s input into plans for the city’s new police headquarters and the nearby Municipal Justice Building.
Renovations are being done to the current RPS headquarters as well as the former Saskatchewan Transit Company building on Saskatchewan Drive. A new building linking those two also is to be designed and built.
The new building will feature a main entrance for the public as well as multi-purpose and community spaces — and those latter areas are what the city and RPS are seeking feedback about.
They also want to hear from the public about how the exterior of the property fits in with the community in the areas of Saskatchewan Drive, Osler Street and 11th Avenue.
The city also plans to turn the Municipal Justice Building at 1770 Halifax St., into a neighbourhood community centre and police training/fitness facility.
There will be space for community gatherings and recreation and a multi-purpose gymnasium that will be shared by residents and the police.
The city hopes to hear from people in the neighbourhood, but will accept input from all Regina residents.
The survey is available at Regina.ca/beheard, with a deadline for responses of Aug. 31.
