Affinity Credit Union to match donations for new boilers at Lighthouse

Christmas is a time for giving, and a local business is stepping up to help the Lighthouse Supported Living with a hole in its budget.

Affinity Credit Union announced Wednesday it will match donations to help the shelter recoup the cost of replacing its boilers.

The aging boilers required immediate attention this winter after two completely stopped working, and a third recently started leaking.

 Lighthouse received permission from Social Services to pull the $84,000 from funds earmarked to renovate the building’s 68 suites and office area.

The shelter is hopeful that renovation can still go ahead now.
