A Regina man is in police custody after the vehicle he was in had previously been reported stolen.
Around 11:14 p.m. Christmas Eve, a canine officer noticed a man leaving a vehicle in the 1100 block of Rae Street.
When the officer told the man to stop, he began to flee.
A police service dog was deployed and apprehended the man.
The suspect received minor injuries and was treated at hospital prior to being taken into custody.
Vaughan Wilbert Smoker, 30, appeared in court Wednesday on five charges including resisting arrest and theft over $5,000.
