12:00 – Author and world traveler Ethan Lou was in Beijing in January visiting his dying grandfather when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and as he traveled out of China and through Asia and Europe, he witnessed the earliest stages of the virus that is currently changing our world. In Lau’s new book “Field Notes From a Pandemic: A Journey Through a World Suspended,” he argues that globalization has crafted a world that is interconnected, making it sensitive and susceptible to shocks such as this pandemic, and a crisis like COVID-19 was long overdue. Lau joins guest host Mike Couros to discuss the book and his experience.
