A Crown corporation is warning that its customers are being targeted by scam artists.
In a media release, SaskPower said it has been told some clients are seeing texts and emails that claim they have been overbilled and are eligible for a refund. Links in the messages have requested financial or personal information, which the company warns could be used to scam money or commit identity theft.
The release stressed that SaskPower will never ask customers to carry out financial transactions through text messages, email, or social media. It encourages anyone who is unsure of the veracity of a message to call 1-888-757-6937.
