A 52-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a truck Sunday near the Bear Claw Casino and Hotel on the White Bear First Nation.
The Carlyle RCMP got a call at about 7:15 p.m., that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on Highway 9. Officers investigating the crash determined a southbound truck hit the man as he was walking in the southbound driving lane.
The 26-year-old driver of the truck stopped and tried to help the man until paramedics arrived. The victim was declared dead at the scene.
The RCMP said alcohol wasn’t a factor in the collision.
The highway reopened Monday morning.
