A 22-year-old man who was tasered by a Regina police officer earlier this week is now facing charges.
The man allegedly refused to co-operate with police Tuesday night, when officers responded to the report of a break and enter in the 2100 block of Lorne Street.
Police said they later found the suspect holding a 41-year-old woman against her will at a home in the 2000 block of Hamilton Street.
Officers determined it was a domestic dispute, and the woman was eventually able to leave the home unharmed.
The man, however, did not surrender to police.
Officers said after attempting to negotiate, the 22-year-old held a bladed weapon to his neck, at which point police used a taser to ensure the suspect dropped the weapon.
He was taken to hospital and, after being released, was arrested.
The man is charged with break and enter to commit an assault, forcible confinement and two counts of breaching probation.
Regina police said the man’s name won’t be released due to his attempt to self-harm, and the nature of the incident.
