Wascana Centre will be patrolled by community safety officers this summer.
Training of these officers is complete and the provincial government says they are ready to walk, ride bikes and drive patrol vehicles to make sure those in the park are safe.
The officers are to monitor and inform people about COVID-19 safety protocols.
They will also enforce drug and alcohol laws, traffic laws and park bylaws, such as those dealing with parking, fishing, swimming, boating, fire safety and event security. Anyone needing first aid can also rely on these officers.
These officers will work with the Regina Police Service and agencies already providing security in the park.
