Inmate at Saskatchewan Penitentiary dies while in custody

Correctional Service Canada announced an inmate at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert died while in custody.

Before his death Friday, Leonard Montgrand had been serving a 1 1/2-year sentence for aggravated assault since Dec. 23. Montgrand’s next of kin have been notified.

The circumstances of Montgrand’s death will be investigated.
