A 16-year-old boy injured while swimming Friday evening in Moose Jaw’s Wakamow Valley has died.
The Moose Jaw Police Service said Monday it had joined the Saskatchewan Coroners Service in investigating the incident, which happened in the Moose Jaw River.
Just after 5:30 p.m. Friday, police officers, paramedics and members of the fire department responded to the Wakamow Valley for a report of a swimmer who had gone under the water and couldn’t be found.
A search eventually located the youth, who was in medical distress. He was taken by STARS ambulance to a Regina hospital, where he died.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help the boy’s family pay funeral expenses.
