Three elementary schools in northwest Regina went into “secure the building” mode Thursday afternoon.
According to the Regina Police Service, W.H. Ford, Centennial and St. Jerome schools each followed the protocol as a precaution just after 2 p.m., due to their proximity to a gun call on Wheatly Bay.
School resource officers went to each of the schools and Regina Public Schools and the Regina Catholic School Division were told of the situation.
Schools go into “secure the building” mode if there’s a potential threat outside. The schools’ doors are locked, but activities continue as normal indoors until a controlled dismissal of students at the end of the school day.
Police said the investigation on Wheatly Bay is continuing.
