Anglers will have a free run of Saskatchewan’s lakes and rivers this weekend.
The province’s summer free fishing weekend is set for Saturday and Sunday, when residents of the province and visitors can fish without a licence in public waters that are open to sport fishing.
Free fishing weekend has been a fixture in Saskatchewan since the summer of 1989.
The free weekend doesn’t apply in national parks, where a federal licence is required. Anyone planning to take fish out of the province also must purchase a licence.
As well, all catch limit and size regulations remain in effect. Anglers also must follow all COVID-19 protocol that are in place in the province.
