A Regina elementary school is temporarily shifting some of its classes to remote learning starting Tuesday due to multiple cases of COVID-19.
In a media release Monday, Regina Public Schools said Henry Janzen School would shift its kindergarten to Grade 4/5 classes to online instruction. Students are to return to in-class learning Oct. 4 provided the children don’t have symptoms.
All other grades at the school will continue with in-person learning.
The division also reported two cases at each of Lakeview School, Ecole Centennial School, Walker School and Ecole Elsie Mironuck School, and single cases at each of McDermid Community School, Dr. L.M. Hanna School, Albert Community School, Ruth M. Buck School, Sheldon-Williams Collegiate and Scott Collegiate.
Meanwhile, in letters sent to parents, the Regina Catholic School Division said two cases had been identified at Sacred Heart Community School and one case had been detected at St. Bernadette School.
Exposures at Sacred Heart would have occurred on Sept. 10 and Sept. 13. The exposure at St. Bernadette was between Tuesday and Thursday of last week.
Close contacts were reminded by medical health officers to self-isolate for 14 days from their last exposure if they’re not fully vaccinated.
Students who didn’t have symptoms but who haven’t been fully vaccinated can leave isolation only to attend classes. Otherwise, they’re required to self-isolate and can’t attend any extracurricular activities and/or outings.
All close contacts, whether fully vaccinated or not, should self-monitor for symptoms and self-isolate if symptoms develop.
