Latest COVID update Nov. 20: 185 new cases, 2 deaths, out-of-province tests raise active total

A relatively high number of out-of-province COVID tests raised the active case total Saturday.

In its daily update, the province reported that 68 people who live in Saskatchewan tested positive for the virus somewhere else.

There were also 185 new cases, 186 recoveries and two new deaths, raising the active total to 1,167.

According to the Ministry of Health:

• As of November 20th, there are 185 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 80,278 reported cases.
• The new cases are located in the Far North West (6), Far North East (5), North West (29), North Central (24), North East (3), Saskatoon (34), Central West (2), Central East (10), Regina (32), South West (7), South Central (3) and South East (27) zones and three (3) new cases have pending residence information.
• Sixty-eight (68) Saskatchewan residents who tested out-of-province previously were added to the total case counts.
• 80,278 cases are confirmed:
  • 19,604 cases are from the North area (8,728 North West, 8,060 North Central, 2,816 North East);
  • 19,208 cases are from the Saskatoon area;
  • 15,724 cases are from the Regina area;
  • 9,952 cases are from the South area (2,169 South West, 2,926 South Central, 4,857 South East);
  • 9,304 cases are from the Far North area (4,377 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,386 Far North East);
  • 5,922 cases are from the Central area (1,429 Central West, 4,493 Central East);
  • 564 cases have pending residence information.
• 1,167 cases are considered active and 78,201 cases are considered recovered.
• Just over one-quarter of the new cases are in each of the age groups: 11 and younger (25.4%), 20 to 39 years (25.9%), and 40 to 59 years (25.9%).
• Almost one-half (47.1%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) was fully vaccinated.
• As of November 20th, a total of 155 individuals are hospitalized; including 116 inpatient hospitalizations, and 39 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 155 patients, 107 (69.0%) were not fully vaccinated.
• In addition to SK ICU counts, there are nine residents receiving out-of-province care in hospital. As these patients are receiving care out-of-province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard. Since yesterday’s report, there has been one repatriation.
• Two (2) new deaths reported today. 910 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
• 1,261,747 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of November 18, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,063,576 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 1,252,149 tests performed per million population.
• The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 116 (9.6 new cases per 100,000).
