Warm weather in Saskatoon had people flocking to O’Shea’s Irish Pub, which had one of the only open patios Wednesday.
“I just came back from B.C. so nothing better than chilling on the patio with some friends,” said Kurt Porter, who enjoyed one of the earliest patio openings in recent memory.
Around 30 people enjoyed rooftop beverages, wolfed down some food on the bar’s rooftop patio.
“We just thought we’d check if it was open, but we were shocked when they told us to go on up,” said Jenna Olson.
Winston’s Pub patio will open Thursday and Bus Stop Refreshments – the big red bus by the Delta Bessborough – is expected to open in a few days.
It’s perfect timing with Environment Canada forecasting a high of 18 degrees Thursday and Friday, with a cool down over the weekend.
Motorcycle owners gear up for riding season
Warmer weather has motorcycles revving up for the first time of the season.
“As soon as I license my bike I ride it from spring until fall,” Dan Schmidt said.
Not all bikers are parking their winter vehicles to have the wind in their hair just yet.
“I will soon, right now there is so much gravel and debris (on the road),” new rider Michelle Caron said.
The warmer temperatures seem to have inspired people to try motorcycles, with Redline Harley-Davidson seeing an uptick in sales in the past few days.
“Our economy is getting a little stronger,” said Redline’s Guy Lumsden, who’s also an avid rider.
“Last year we were in a little bit of a downturn, but we have a few new things at Harley-Davidson that people are excited about, like a new motor in our touring bikes.”
