The Regina Police Service (RPS) says it saw an overall increase in crime in 2021 compared to the year prior.
That’s according to the latest year-end report from the RPS.
The report detailed crime from the northern, central and southern regions of the city.
Regina overall saw 10,769 property crimes in 2021, an increase of 553 compared to 2020. The most incidents were reported in the south end of the city.
There were 3,033 incidents involving crime against people in 2021, such as murder, attempted murder and sexual assaults.
The report also touched on drug overdoses, reporting 14 deaths in March along with 172 overdoses overall.
There were 160 overdose deaths in 2021 compared to 111 the year before.
