Two companies have been fined as a result of a workplace injury that happened in October of 2019 near Meadow Lake.
On Oct. 7 of that year, a worker was seriously hurt after one of their gloves got tangled up in the chain of a sprocket.
On May 25, the companies pleaded guilty in Meadow Lake Provincial Court to violating a clause of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
Norsask Forest Products Inc., was fined $71,428.57 with a surcharge of $28,571.43, for a total fine of $100,000. Four other charges against that company were stayed.
RYTT Contracting Ltd. was fined $21,428.57 plus a surcharge of $8,571.43, for a total fine of $30,000. An additional charge was stayed.
