RCMP have laid a first-degree murder charge in connection with the fire and suspicious death at a home in Yellow Grass.
RCMP confirm Kevin Obina Okafor, 37, of Yellow Grass, is charged with one count of first-degree murder, fleeing police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Okafor was arrested in the Swift Current area on Thursday, however RCMP notified the media about the arrest and charge Sunday afternoon.
RCMP said the woman killed is 33-year-old Abbie Speir of Yellow Grass. Her family has been notified.
The two knew each other, according to police who didn’t expand on their relationship.
Okafor makes his first court appearance at provincial court in Regina Monday.
