A 23-year-old inmate died Saturday at the Regina Correctional Centre.
According to a media release, the man was found unresponsive in his cell. Lifesaving measures were initiated, but paramedics declared the man dead just after 7:15 a.m.
The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety didn’t identify the man or say why he was on remand at the jail. A media release did say foul play wasn’t suspected and that COVID-19 was not a factor.
The RCMP, the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety are conducting investigations into the man’s death.
